#17 Red Squares

Artist: Loke Jun Jie

Concept: The inspiration for this design came from sugar cubes and emoticons. I decided to make the characters as such to make them stand out more. The emotions that the "squares" are having are made up of keyboard symbols, typical of what we use daily in instant messaging or email.

STYLES: T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION

Crowning Stroke is proud to bring to you STYLES, a t-shirt design competition that is all about you. No themes, no boundaries, no restraints, STYLES is aimed at bringing out the best in your designs.

Submit Your Design


Styles will be accepting designs from 3rd January 2009 to 31 March 2009. All designs must be submitted through www.crowningstroke.com. Accepted designs will be shown on the Styles website at styles2009.blogspot.com, which will be updated on a weekly basis. Check back regularly to see the submitted designs!

There are no theme restrictions. Show us your personal style!

Your Design Is Judged

After the submission period is over, all accepted designs will be subjected to a round of voting and judging.

Submitted designs will be judged on:
a. Originality
b. Concept
c. Visual Appeal

The top 10 designs will be chosen to move on the final round. All votes will be reset for the final round for a 2nd round of public voting.
The top 3 prize winners and 3 consolation winners will then be chosen based on the judges’ scoring and public votes from the 2nd round.

Prizes

1st Prize - $500

3rd Prize – $100
3 X Consolation Prizes - $50 Crowning Stroke Voucher

In addition, prize winners will stand a chance to be awarded a Crowning Stroke contract. The contract entails a cool SGD200 and commissions paid to the artists in recognition of their design genius, whose designs will be printed and sold commercially by Crowning Stroke. The artists will also be featured on www.crowningstroke.com with their own personal profile page, to share their talent with the world!

DESIGN GUIDELINES

i. Design must be an original work that has not previously been published or currently submitted to any other design competitions.

ii. Designs must not contain trademarks, logos, copyrighted works, and intellectual property of any third parties, or any material that may be deemed as profane, distasteful or outwardly discriminatory.

iii. Designs can have up to 6 unique colours (each shade of the same colour counts as 1 colour, so do black and white). The colour of the t-shirt does not add to the 6-colour limit.

iv. Designs with gradients, photographs and halftones are allowed.

v. Designs can be on both sides of the T-shirt, as long as the total number of colours does not exceed 6. The same colour on different sides counts as 2 colours.

vi. Placement of design should not cross over the seams or collar.

vii. All submissions must be done on the Crowning Stroke template. We will first need a low-resolution version (1024 X 768 pixels) of your design. But please have a hi-resolution version (min 300dpi) available for submission if your design is chosen.

RULES & REGULATIONS

i. This competition is open to all Singaporean citizens, permanent residents of the Republic of Singapore & foreigners in Singapore. You must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible!

ii. Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of 5 designs for the competition. Additional designs after the 5th submission will not be considered.

iii. Participants are required to first submit a low resolution version of their design. Participants must have a high resolution copy of minimum 300 dpi for each submission, which may be required at a later date.

iv. Crowning Stroke will hold all rights to submitted designs until the end of the competition.

v. Accepted designs will be shown on styles2009.blogspot.com. Crowning Stroke reserves the right to deny any entries at Crowning Stroke’s sole discretion.

vi. For printing purposes, Crowning Stroke has the final decision and reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the design.

vii. The judges’ decision is final.
